It's Never Just About A Junk Drawer
Have you considered the tiniest place in your home can teach you the biggest lessons. It's easy to think that a beautiful home will require you to take on a new project to start a transformation. What if I told you it was much easier than you think and it's probably an area that is an afterthought.
Every week, we'll explore one simple idea that helps you create a home that feels more peaceful, more welcoming, and more intentional. Sometimes that means styling a coffee table. Other times, it starts with something as ordinary as a junk drawer.
Can I tell you something?
Having a junk drawer in our your home says a lot more than we realize. Don't get me wrong, we all have at least one, some of us may have two. But what exactly do you have in there. Do you even know?
Your drawer is most likely filled with a whole bunch of nothing: rubber bands, instruction manuals, and things we're saving for "just in case."
But as I was thinking about it, I realized something.
That little drawer often tells a much bigger story.
Not because it's messy...
But because it's full of decisions we've postponed.
"I might need this."
"I'll deal with it later."
"It can stay for now."
Sound familiar?
The truth is, our homes have a way of reflecting our habits.
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about what we should buy next that we overlook the simple changes that can make our homes feel lighter.
Creating a beautiful home isn't always about adding.
Sometimes it's about editing and removing what no longer serves a purpose.
This week, I'd love to challenge you to do one small thing.
Take five minutes to reset this tiny area.
Then notice how one small decision changes the way that little corner of your
home feels.
Open your junk drawer.
Throw away what you no longer need.
Keep what you actually use.
Close the drawer knowing you've made one intentional decision that contributes to a more peaceful home.
It may seem like a small task.
But I've found that creating a home you love will not happen through one big transformation, but through consistent intentional decisions.
